CLARKSTON DECA - 14TH ANNUAL
4TH GRADE ENTREPRENEURSHIP CONFERENCE

DECA All   DECA 4th Graders

On the morning of Thursday, November 20, over two-hundred 4th grade students from the Clarkston School District, Holy Family Catholic School, and Cornerstone Christian School attended the 14th annual Entrepreneurship Development Conference. The event, hosted by Clarkston DECA, began at 9:10 AM at the CHS Auditorium and was open to the public. The conference was designed to teach 4th grade students about entrepreneurship, running a business, and the importance of the free enterprise system.

Prior to the conference, Clarkston DECA members worked with the 4th grade students and helped them design their own business to hypothetically open in the LC Valley. The 4th grade students worked in small groups or by themselves and were assisted by teachers, parents, and DECA chapter members. Colby Savage, Lucy Downs, and Sara Hale are the coordinators of this event.

Selected business plans that students created were awarded with titles, such as Most Creative, Most Likely to Succeed, Most Needed in the Valley, etc. All students received a certificate for completing a business project, and students with awarded business plans received a medal. At the conference, 4th grade students and DECA members attended four business workshops hosted by local entrepreneurs.
