The Clarkston School District is a welcoming, safe, student-centered, and collaborative learning environment.  In partnership with Parents, student, and community leaders, CSD staff members are dedicated to helping all students meet performance expectations and achieve their full learning potential.

Inclement Weather

winter Occasionally, severe weather may make it necessary for school to be delayed, buses to run late, or school to be cancelled. When this happens, announcements will be posted online and made on local radio stations starting at 6:00 AM. Please do not call the schools or bus drivers to find out if school is closed or delayed.

Clarkston School District utilizes the media notification system Flash Alert Newswire to send its school closure/delay information to local radio and news stations. As soon as a decision has been made to delay or close school, this information is posted to the Flash Alert website at Parents, students, and staff are encouraged to check this website in the mornings for accurate and reliable information direct from the District. You may also click on the “Closures/Delays” link in our Quick Links menu to the right.

The decision process whether to close or delay school is as follows:

  • Transportation supervisor drives all routes to assess road conditions;
  • Transportation supervisor contacts the superintendent and advises him of road conditions;
  • Superintendent confers with other local superintendents;
  • Clarkston Superintendent makes final decision to keep school open, closed, implement a two-hour delay or early release.

During inclement weather conditions, please refer to the District’s "Procedure for Emergency Closure of Schools" document.
