CLARKSTON FALL 2020 LEARNING PLAN
The Clarkston School District has revised its Fall 2020 Learning Plan to include additional reopening scenarios. Each model will depend on the number of new cases of COVID-19 in a 14 day window. The district plans to remain in one learning model between 4-6 weeks before recommending a change. Any change to the educational model will be based on guidance from the Department of Health (DOH), the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and the Washington State Governor’s office. More information on each model will be provided in future communication. The basic information is as follows:
Traditional 5 (1-3* new cases):
All students and staff participate on-site with in-person instruction five (5) days a week. This is the traditional face-to-face model with health and safety precautions (i.e., face coverings, hygiene, etc.). *The 6’ social distancing restriction would need to be removed for Traditional 5.
Modified 4 (4-15 new cases) WE ARE HERE:
All students participate on-site with in-person instruction two or four (2 or 4) days a week: K-6 students attend AM/PM schedule (4 days), and 7-12 students attend an A/B schedule (2 days). Clarkston also has additional virtual and online options. Staff will be on-site for the purpose of planning and delivering instruction with safety precautions (i.e., face coverings, 6’ distancing, hygiene, etc.).
Modified 3 (16-20 new cases):
All students from Modified 2, as well as our youngest learners (K-2), and additional students in need of support participate on-site with in-person instruction three (3) days a week AM/PM (Mon, Tues, and Thur). All other students participate in distance learning. Staff will be on-site for the purpose of planning and delivering instruction with safety precautions (i.e., face coverings, 6’ distancing, hygiene, etc.).
Modified 2 (21-25 new cases):
Students in greatest need of additional support as identified through an agreed upon set of criteria participate on-site with in-person instruction two (2) days a week AM/PM. All other students participate in distance learning. Staff will be on-site for the purpose of planning and delivering instruction with safety precautions (i.e., face coverings, 6’ distancing, hygiene, etc.).
Distance 1 (More than 26 new cases):
All students participate in distance learning. Staff will be on-site to plan and deliver online instruction.

RETURN TO LEARN
Welcome back to
Clarkston School District! COVID-19 has been described as a fluid
situation; we must adapt with the same fluidity while being prepared for
the unknowns. We'd like to share with you our district-wide overview of
safety measures at all Clarkston sites. Many topics concerning the
daily operations of the district will be determined at your child’s
school and will be communicated by the principal. The purpose of this
document is to guide parents to make informed decisions so that they may
continue to be informed about educational options for their student for
the 2020-21 school year and to prepare parents and students for
district-wide safety enhancements.

CLARKSTON ONLINE
Families,
for those of you who are planning for your student to attend Clarkston
Online, you will need to fill out the form below and return it to your
child's school as soon as possible. Copies are available at each
building if you do not have access to a printer.
As a reminder, the Clarkston Online option means that your child will be
working 100% online from home. Students will be working on a curriculum
provided by the Clarkston School District. This curriculum will teach
and assess students while working from home.

EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS FOR CLARKSTON FAMILIES
We
know families are concerned about what their child's education will
look like in the fall. Our district has been working hard over the
summer to create new learning environments that will help enhance and
support students' success in and out of the regular classroom setting.
Although we anticipate starting face-to-face, we are also preparing for a
virtual start up if necessary. Therefore, in addition to traditional, in-person
education, Clarkston School District is pleased to announce the
following educational opportunities for students and families
as we prepare for the start of school in the Fall:
Clarkston Online:
Clarkston
Online is the name of the new virtual learning program that will be
supported by local teachers and staff for the school year of 2020-21.
Clarkston Online will use an approved state curriculum and will allow
students to work at their own pace, from home, and be a part of the
Clarkston School District. If a student chooses to enroll in Clarkston
Online, it will need to be for the duration of at least a semester.
Clarkston Home Alliance:
The
Clarkston Home Alliance is an educational option designed for current
homeschooled children and families who desire additional flexibility.
The curriculum is state approved and a Clarkston teacher will provide
support to students enrolled in the program. Enrollment is limited to
approximately 40 students for the 2020-21 school year with a plan to
expand over the next several years.
2020-2021 CLARKSTON SCHOOL DISTRICT EDUCATION TRANSITION PLAN FOR FALL REOPENING
During their Regular School Board Meeting on June 22, 2020, the Clarkston School District Board of Directors adopted a 2020-2021 Education Transition Plan for the reopening of schools in the fall. The chart represents possible
educational delivery scenarios, from the most restrictive to the least
restrictive. Information in the chart is based on Reopening Washington
Schools 2020 (RWS 2020) provided by the Office of Superintendent of
Public Instruction (OSPI).
It is important for families to know that
depending on individual circumstances, the District is willing to be
flexible within these plans. Please work with your building
administrator.
STUDENT ENROLLMENT SURVEY
In early August, families were encouraged to take a Fall
student enrollment survey. The purpose of the survey was to determine which
students will be attending school face-to-face and which students will
be attending Clarkston Online.
Clarkston School District started school this Fall in a
modified face-to-face instruction with half of the students onsite at a
time. In this model only half of the students are allowed on campus at a time because
of six foot distance requirements set forth by the state and CDC. For those who weren't comfortable starting in the modified face-to-face model the District provided an online option. Clarkston
Online is a distance learning model supported by Clarkston School
District teachers. The District has chosen Edgenuity and Apex for the
online curricula which are aligned with state standards.
Options for the Fall 2020 school year:
- Face-to-face school (with a modified schedule, grades K-12)
- Clarkston Online (must enroll for at least one semester, grades K-12)
We'd like to thank our families for participating in the survey and for your continued support.
