School Programs and Operations Levy

The Clarkston School District has a four-year School Programs and Operations Levy on the February 13, 2018 ballot.  The proposed levy replaces the current levy voters approved on February 18, 2014 and is NOT and additional tax.

If approved by the voters, the School Programs and Operations replacement levy will be used during the 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 school years to support essential programs, staff, and operating expenses that are unfunded or under-funded by state and federal revenue.

If approved the levy rate will be $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The levy request will be $2,337,122 in 2019, $2,570,834 in 2020, $2,827,917 in 2021, and $3,110,709 in 2022.

School Programs and Operations Levy Facts:

  • Clarkston voters approved a School Programs and Operations Levy in February 2014. This levy will expire in December 2018.
  • The replacement levy will be placed on the February 13, 2018 ballot.
    • The current levy rate is $3.66.
    • The proposed levy rate is $1.50.
    • This is a decrease of $2.16.
  • The 2018 School Programs and Operations Levy will be used during 2019-2022 to support essential programs, staff, and operating expenses that are unfunded or under-funded by state and federal revenue. (See “What does the levy fund?” and “How Levy Dollars Benefit Clarkston Kids” for a list of all the programs and areas that levies support.)
  • The levy supports essential programs and maintenance in the District that is inadequately funded by the State.
