HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!!
Highland Elementary has a team of dedicated teachers, paraprofessionals and staff that work very hard to make sure every student is successful. To show appreciation and celebrate the week, Daily's provided donuts to the staff, the PTO provided a luncheon and gifts and the staff was surprised on Friday with ice cream treats donated by Hooked On Ice Cream.

The Southeast Washington Walk Study website is up and running!
As a reminder, the purpose of the Southeast Washington Walk Study is to examine existing walking and bicycling conditions at local schools. This information will be used to develop recommendations for improvements at elementary and middle schools in Asotin, Columbia, Garfield, and Whitman Counties. There are two main goals for this project website:
1) To provide information to the public about the importance of safe routes to school education, programs, and planning.
2) To crowdsource information from parents and community members about existing problems (e.g., missing sidewalks or difficult crossings) on school routes at local schools. Visitors to the site will have the opportunity to use a fun new interactive mapping tool, Shareabouts, which allows a large number of people to provide input about a specific location or project. Visitors identify problem locations by placing pins on them and providing some additional details about the site.
Please visit the fun and easy to use website http://tinyurl.com/se-washington-walkstudy to share your knowledge of local conditions on school routes.
