In the past few weeks, there have been incidents where student safety was in jeopardy. The front circular drive is for busses only. We have multiple busses that use the circular drive throughout the school day. If you are dropping off your child or picking them up, please use the driveway on the East side of the school. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe!
Highland Elementary has a team of dedicated teachers, paraprofessionals and staff that work very hard to make sure every student is successful. To show appreciation and celebrate the week, Daily's provided donuts to the staff, the PTO provided a luncheon and gifts and the staff was surprised on Friday with ice cream treats donated by Hooked On Ice Cream.
1) To provide information to the public about the importance of safe routes to school education, programs, and planning.
2) To crowdsource information from parents and community members about existing problems (e.g., missing sidewalks or difficult crossings) on school routes at local schools. Visitors to the site will have the opportunity to use a fun new interactive mapping tool, Shareabouts, which allows a large number of people to provide input about a specific location or project. Visitors identify problem locations by placing pins on them and providing some additional details about the site.
Please visit the fun and easy to use website http://tinyurl.com/se-washington-walkstudy to share your knowledge of local conditions on school routes.
