Tired of never having up to date contacts in Outlook? Below is a link to download instructions for setting up a directory that is always up to date. These instructions are for Microsoft Outlook 2003, and we strongly suggest that you do not use this configuration on a laptop.

Personal SPAM Blocking:
Since one person’s SPAM can be valuable information to another, it is virtually impossible for us to prevent every SPAM message from ending up in your in inbox using our filters. However, you can prevent receiving unwanted messages by creating “rules” within your e-mail program.
To create a rule in Entourage:
| 1. | Open Entourage |
| 2. | Select 'Rules' from the 'Tools' drop-down menu at the top of the screen |
| 3. | Ensure that the 'Mail (POP)' tab is highlighted in blue |
| 4. | Click the 'New' button located in the top left-hand corner of the windows |
| 5. | In the 'Rule Name:' entry box at the top of the window that appeared, enter the desired name for the rule |
| 6. | Click the blue button to the right of the box displaying 'All messages' |
| 7. | Select the type of rule you would like to create such as 'Subject' |
| 8. | Insert the desired words to be analyzed by the mail program |
| 9. | In the 'Then' section, click the blue button to the right of the box desplaying 'Change status' and select the action that you would like to be taken on all messages meeting the specified criteria such as 'Delete Message', and click 'OK' |
To create a rule in Outlook:
| 1. | Open Outlook |
| 2. | Select 'Rules and Alerts' from the 'Tools' drop-down menu at the top of the window |
| 3. | Click the 'New Rule...' button located in the top let-hand corner of the window |
| 4. | In the 'Stay Organized' portion of the 'Step 1: Select a template' section, choose the action that you want to implement ie. 'Move messages with specific words in the subject to a folder' |
| 5. | In the 'Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value)' section, click on the underlined 'specific words' and insert the desired words or phrases to be analyzed by the mail program in the 'Specify words of phrases to search for in the subject:' box |
| 6. | Click 'Add' button and then the 'Ok' button |
| 7. | In the 'Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value)' section, click on the underlined 'specified' and select the folder you would like the messages to be moved to |
| 8. | Click 'Ok' and then click 'Finish' |
| 9. | If you want to run the rules that you have created on the current messages in your mail program, click on the 'Run Rules Now...' button on the top right-hand side of the 'Rules and Alerts' window, otherwise the rules will be applied to all messages recieved in the future |
With these rules in place, any messages containing the text that you specified in the subject line will be placed directly into your deleted items folder. You can set up all sorts of rules to manage your inbox. In addition to deleting SPAM, these rules can be used to organize wanted mail into catagorized folders as well.

Configure E-mail at Home:
Microsoft Outlook:
| 1. | Open Microsoft Outlook and select 'Options' from the 'Tools' menu |
| 2. | Select the 'Mail Setup' tab and click the 'E-mail Accounts...' button |
| 3. | Select the 'Add a new e-mail account' radio button, click 'Next', and select 'POP3' |
| 4. | Enter your full name in the 'Your Name:' box and your e-mail address in the 'E-mail Address:' box |
| 5. | Your username should show up in the 'User Name:' box automatically |
| 6. | Enter 'mail.csdk12.org' in both the 'Incoming mail server (POP3):' and 'Outgoing mail server (SMTP):' boxes |
| 7. | Click the 'Test Account Settings ...' button and enter your password when prompted |
| 8. | The results should report 'Congratulations! All tests completed successfully.' If not, review your settings and verify that you have internet connectivity |
| 9. | Close the window and select the 'More Settings ...' button |
| 10. | Select the 'Advanced' tab and check the 'Leave a copy of messages on the server' box in the 'Delivery' section |
| 11. | Click 'OK', 'Next', 'Finish', and setup is complete! |
Microsoft Entourage:
| 1. | Open Microsoft Entourage and select 'Accounts' from the 'Tools' menu |
| 2. | Click 'New' in the 'Accounts' window |
| 3. | Enter your E-mail address in the 'E-mail address:' box and click the right arrow twice |
| 4. | Enter your full name in the 'Your Name:' box and your e-mail address in the 'E-mail Address:' box |
| 5. | In the 'Account ID:' box, enter the first portion of your e-mail address i.e. 'SmithJ' for SmithJ@csdk12.org |
| 6. | Enter 'mail.csdk12.org' in both the 'Incoming mail server:' and 'Outgoing mail server:' boxes |
| 7. | Ensure that 'POP' is selected in the 'Incoming mail server type:' drop-down box |
| 8. | Click the right arrow to continue and click the 'Verify My Settings' button |
| 9. | The results should report that 'Your account settings have been successfully verified' If not, review your settings and verify that you have internet connectivity |
| 10. | Click the right arrow to continue and enter 'CSDK12' in the 'Account name:' box |
| 11. | Ensure the 'Include this account in my Send & Receive All schedule' checkbox is selected and click the 'Finish' button |
| 12. | Highlight 'CSDK12 (POP)' in the 'Accounts' window and click 'Edit' |
| 13. | Select the 'Options' tab,click the 'Leave a copy of each message on the server' box, click 'OK', and setup is complete! |
Microsoft Outlook Express:
| 1. | Open Microsoft Outlook Express and select 'Accounts...' from the 'Tools' menu |
| 2. | Click the 'Add' button and select 'Mail...' from the pop-up menu |
| 3. | Enter your full name in the "Display name:' box and click 'Next' |
| 4. | Enter your e-mail address in the 'E-mail address:' box and click 'Next' |
| 5. | Select 'POP3' as your incoming mail server in the drop down box |
| 6. | Enter 'mail.csdk12.org' in both the 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server :' and 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:' boxes |
| 7. | Click 'Next' and enter the first portion of your e-mail address i.e. 'SmithJ' for SmithJ@csdk12.org in the 'Account name:' box |
