Girls Represented in Trades Flyer

The YWCA's G.R.I.T. (Girls Represented in Trades) experience aims to expose girls of junior high and high school age to opportunities in trade professions.

On June 22, 2022, young women in grades 7-12 from Lewiston, Clarkston, Asotin, and Lapwai will attend a one-day conference where they will get hands-on experiences in fields such as automotive, welding, HVAC, and more. Girls will start the day listening to a panel of females who work in trade professions. These panelists will discuss what it is like to be female in male-dominated fields and the importance of females working in these trades.

Half of the day will be spent at Walla Walla Community College and the other half at Lewis Clark State College. This will give the young ladies an opportunity to experience college campuses and atmospheres. We hope that they finish the day inspired by new opportunities and feel empowered, confident, and capable of being valuable contributors to any profession they choose.

If you know of any young ladies in grades 7-12 who would be interested in attending this event, please have them fill out the attached forms and return them to their school ASAP, or to Heather Lang at CHS. If you have questions. Please contact Heather Lang at (509) 758-5591.
